I will be teaching Us on a topic: *THE WORD OF GOD*
*WHAT IS THE WORD OF GOD*
The Bible says in Hebrews 4:12
*For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.*
From the scripture you will understand that the word of God is alive, meaning it has life, its not dead and as such continues working as Orchestrated by God, what ever He says even before you and I were born is it alive and coming to pass
The word of God is active.
It's working non stop kabayakatata 🔥🔥
For the purpose of today's meeting I will be unvailing just 7(seven) out of many, what God's word is in the life of a believer
1️⃣ *GOD'S WORD AS MIRROR*
James 1:22-25 - But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
I know there is no one here who dose not have a mirror in his/her house, OK now, we all often use the mirror each time we prepare to go out, most expecially women(☺️) they will understand this better.
Why do we look at the mirror? It's so that can we know what we look like there by adjusting where necessary, because you tend not to know what you look like when going out if you don't look at a mirror.
Now
After looking at the mirror an hour later, you tend to foget what you look like despite you knew awhile ago, so to be sure you look at it(mirror) again that's why most women carry a mirror in their bags always.
Take up your mirror(the word of God) and know how you look, ensure you do it consistently till it becomes a life style
2️⃣ *THE WORD OF GOD IS FIRE*
Jeremiah 23:29 “Is not my word like fire,” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?
Fire burns,Put your hand into the fire and see if this is not so! 😂, just joking I believe we have seen fire 🔥 in action either when cooking or during disaster..
3️⃣ THE WORD OF GOD IS A *HAMMER*
Jeremiah 23:29 “Is not my word like fire,” declares the LORD, “ *and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?*
We all know what a hammer is, carpenters, blacksmiths, stone breakers, tielers etc all use hammers of different shapes,sizes and functions.
Most people wht comes to their mind when they hear the word hammer is demolition, to break something.
But I want us to see hammer in respect to God's word not just for demolition but also for reshaping, rebranding and producing
When God's word hits you, it breaks away all the unwanted in your life, it reshape your life and make you new no wonder the Bible says in
2Corinthians 5:17
*Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new, you become a new person who has been set free from bondage of sin*
4️⃣ GODS WORD IS FOOD
Jeremiah 15:16
When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, LORD God Almighty
Man requires food to live, humanly we can't live for long without food, health wise we have many sicknesses and diseases someone will acquire if he/she does not eat regularly and at the appropriate time.
So also is the word of God, when you eat of it you will never go hungry again, it is more satisfying than the earthly food.
That's why the Bible says in *John 6:35* And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
5️⃣ GOD'S WORD IS A LAMP /LIGHT
Psalm 119:105. God's Word is a lamp, a light that illuminates the darkness
Have you ever been in a truly dark place, where even a single move could be tragic for you or your loved ones?
We live in a spiritually dark world where our souls are often in peril. In this section of Psalm 119 the psalmist declares that God’s Word is a light for our path for living in this dark world.
Like the psalmist, we too need God’s Word to guide our steps. Only God’s Word can correctly inform us about the meaning of right and wrong. And the truth is, the more deeply steeped we are in God’s Word, the more clearly we can discern right from wrong and choose the right path.
6️⃣ GOD'S WORD IS A GOOD SEED
Matthew 13
The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful. But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it.
Luke 8:11
“Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God
Matthew 13:32
and this is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”
When the word of God is sowed in your life, it grows and bears fruit, it becomes a tree 🎄 on which other trees are formed, it fruits are righteousness, love, peace, etc, others feed on you when you have the word of God
7️⃣ GOD'S WORD IS A SWORD
Ephesians 6:17
*And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God*
The sixth piece of armor that Paul discusses in Ephesians 6 is the sword of the spirit, which represents the Word of God. For a Roman soldier, the sword served as an offensive weapon against enemies. When sharpened, the sword could pierce through just about anything, making it a very dangerous tool.
To understand the connection between the sword and the Word of God, it is first important to understand the power of God’s Word. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
In addition, the sword of the spirit is unique in that it can be used as both a defensive and offensive tool. While God’s Word can protect us from the lies of the enemy, it can also counter attacks. For example, Jesus used God’s Word as an offensive weapon in Matthew 4 when Satan tried to test Him in the wilderness.
I encourage you to take up the sword of the spirit in your daily life. Remember that God’s Word is the ultimate truth and that we can stand on His promises. With God on our side, we are unstoppable.
